Sewing Machine History goes back to the time of First industrial Revolution that aimed to reduce manual stitching workload at different cloth manufacturing units. Presumably the first sewing machine was adiscovery by Thomas Saint in 1790. In 1791 Saint took the patent though no working model was built based on this design. Josef Madersperger, the Australian tailor invented the 1st physical stitching machine.

Barthlemy Thimonnier, the French tailor patented his sewing machine that used chain stitches to stitch straight streams. He also set up a factory that used total 80 sewing machines and manufactured French military uniforms. Sadly the rebelling French tailors wiped out the factory putting a stop on Thimonnier’s journey.

In 1833 Walter Hunt invented the ‘lock stitch’ stitching machines. This machine employed an eye-pointed curved needle that carried the upper thread and it left loops while touching thru the fabric horizontally. It also contained a shuttle which carried a lower thread and created interlocks with the threads while passing thru the loops. Hunt sold off the machine without taking patent to be part of sewing Machine History.

In US John Greenough patented his first sewing machine in 1842. In 1845, Elias Howe popped up with a sewing machine that was somewhat like that of Hunt’s. Though it was a majorly improved version and many individuals in America tried to contravene his patent which he contested and won in 1854. Stitching Machine History remains unfinished without mention of Isaac Merritt Singer whose machine incorporated the best of techniques from previous models and provided excellent productiveness. Allen. B. Wilson and John Bradshaw also contributed in sewing Machine History.

James Edward Allen Gibbs got the patent for first ‘chain-stitch single-thread sewing machine’ in 1857. The first set of electric sewing machines was manufactured by Singer Sewing co in 1889. NECCHI and TOYOTA are worth mention in stitching Machine History. Orisol created computerized machines for industrial usage. Modern sewing machines are much improved and come with boosted aesthetic appeal.

As long as people have existed, they have collected different items. Years ago, they would only gathered food and other necessities needed for survival. Now, people collect different things that seem to give them pleasure or joy like sewing machines or train horns or what items they believe will earn them some money later on like expensive pieces of art. Being a collector of something is a small hobby to some or an all encompassing profession to others. There are all different types and levels of collectors. Sometimes collectors become obsessed with collecting and this becomes an illness of a hoarder.

There are several methods to be a collector and some people start when they are only little children. If you ask any man in his 40’s or 50’s if he collected baseball cards as a young boy, a big percentage will probably say yes. It is quite common for children to get involved in a phase or something that is fun or popular at the moment and this turns into having a collection. Another example of kids collecting trendy things or toys are the beanie babies or the Pokemon and Yu-gi-oh trading cards. These were the items for children to have at one point and a lot of children became collectors of them until the faze disappeared.

Because so many children get interested in having a small collection of something at a certain point, this creates some people to become collectors as adults. For most of those kids, their collections fade out as they grow and mature but for others, collecting becomes something they have to become a part of. People usually collect items that they are interested in, whether it is sports memorabilia of their favorite team or pieces of art by a certain artist.

What bagan as a hobby for a lot of people, can also turn into a lucrative career too. The people that are very passionate about collecting things, do everything they can to learn about that particular collectible. This can be a valuable resource for businesses that deal in collectibles by hiring a person that is so knowledgeable about a particular item. This can result on being hired by a large auction company like Sotheby’s or by beginning their own business buying and selling certain collectibles or antiques, for example.

For some people, collecting and holding onto things become a dysfunctional illness called hoarding. People that hoard have to constatnly collect things whether it is by shopping or even digging through others trash. It may be clothes or it can even be food but the main issue of a hoarder is that they can not part with anything and have an emotional attachment to every item that comes into their home. Eventually the home is overflowing from floor to ceiling with stuff that becomes a health hazard. A mental health professional is the only person who can help a hoarder to regain a normal life again where they will not fill an emotional void in their life with things.
